This study aims to analyze the commognitive conflict experienced by students in solving problem solving problems on sequences and series material. Commognitive conflict is a difference between different ways of thinking or using language in understanding and solving mathematical problems. This study uses a qualitative approach, where data is taken through observation, interviews, and document analysis in the form of student work results. The subjects of the study were students of class XI Merdeka 3 who had studied sequences and series material. Data were analyzed based on commognitive theory which includes components of word use, visual mediator, narrative, and routine. The results of the study showed that students experienced commognitive conflict, especially word use, visual mediators and routines in solving problems related to sequences and series. This conflict can be seen in students' difficulties in understanding questions, using mathematical terms, using symbols and writing notations and using the steps used. The implication of this study is the importance of the role of teachers in facilitating effective mathematical communication so that students can understand and solve problems correctly.
